Terms of use

Last updated 2026-11-06. Draft for the closed test; to be reviewed before the public release.

1. Who can use WeHike

WeHike is for adults: you must be 18 or older. One account per person. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password safe.

2. Hiking is at your own risk

Trails, difficulty grades, ratings, times, weather verdicts and every other piece of information in WeHike are estimates made by the community and by software. Conditions change. Always judge the terrain, the weather and your own abilities yourself, and turn back when in doubt. A trail shown in WeHike does not give you any right to enter private or closed land.

3. Outings

Group outings are organised by members, not by WeHike. Organizers and participants are responsible for their own safety and decisions. Join only outings that match your level, bring the required gear, and tell the organizer if you cannot come.

4. Your content

You keep the rights to the trails, tracks, ratings, condition reports, outings and messages you publish. By publishing, you allow WeHike to host, display, adapt (for example simplify or trim a track) and distribute that content inside WeHike and its website, worldwide and free of charge, for as long as it stays published. You confirm that you have the right to publish it.

Do not publish content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, sexual, violent, misleading, an advertisement, someone else's personal data, or that encourages dangerous behaviour or trespassing. Do not copy protected route descriptions or trademarks.

5. Reporting, blocking and moderation

Every trail, condition report, outing, question and profile can be reported, and any member can be blocked. Content reported by several members is hidden automatically and reviewed. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these terms. If your content was removed and you disagree, contact us and we will review the decision and explain it.

6. Privacy

How we handle your data, including location, is described in the privacy policy. You can delete your account at any time from the app or the account deletion page.

7. Paid plans

WeHike is free to use, with limits. Two optional subscriptions lift some of these limits and add features:

  • WeHike+, for hikers: more offline trail packs and planned hikes, detailed statistics and search filters.
  • Organizer, for clubs, guides and agencies: more upcoming outings, larger groups and tools to run them. It includes everything in WeHike+.

The app shows what each plan includes before you buy. Our home page sums it up.

Always free. Safety features are never paid for: recording your hikes, following a trail with its off-route alert, the weather verdict, the emergency contact and joining outings. Neither is contributing: publishing trails, rating them and reporting their condition.

Buying. Subscriptions are sold only through Google Play, by the month or by the year. Google Play shows the price in your local currency before you confirm. There is no free trial, but Google Play may offer a lower introductory price for the first period. A subscription unlocks the plan for the WeHike account you were signed in to when you bought it.

Renewal and cancellation. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it in Google Play (how to cancel). You can cancel at any time. You keep the plan until the end of the period you have paid for, and you are not charged again.

Payment and refunds. Google Play takes the payment, sends the receipt and handles refunds under its refund policies. If Google Play cannot help, write to us. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

Consumers in the EU and the UK. Your plan starts as soon as Google Play confirms the purchase. If you change your mind or want a refund, use Google Play's refund process.

Price changes. We may change prices. Google Play tells you before a new price applies to your subscription, and you can cancel before then. A new price never applies to a period you have already paid for.

When a plan ends. The free limits apply again, but only to what you create from then on. Nothing is deleted: what you downloaded stays on your phone, planned hikes keep their reminders, and outings you have already published run to the end with their capacity.

Deleting your account. Deleting your WeHike account does not cancel a Google Play subscription by itself, so cancel it in Google Play first. We also try to stop the renewal when you delete your account, but only Google Play can confirm it.

Organizers. The Organizer plan gives you tools in the app. It does not make WeHike the organizer of your outings, and WeHike takes no part in any fee you agree with participants. If you export an attendee list, you are responsible for how you use and share it: use it only to run your outings, and delete it when you no longer need it.

8. The service

WeHike is an independent project, provided as is, without guarantee of availability. We may change or stop features. To the extent allowed by law, WeHike is not liable for damage arising from the use of the app or of content published by members. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
